Sound, sustainable recycling and resource management is an important part of our quality of life, and has the collateral benefits of reducing pollutants, conserving our resources, and creating jobs. Because Michigan does not meet its stated recycling goal of 50%, more than 4.3 million tons of material that could be recycled back into Michigan’s economy is now simply buried in landfills. The raw material value of those wasted resources alone is estimated at nearly $435 million annually.
